About Me

I'm Alicia Dietrich. I am starting my first year at Leeds Middle as a Special Education teacher, although many of you know me from subbing last year. I'm also the assistant volleyball coach.

I graduated from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, FL, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary and Special Education. I am currently pursuing my Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama.

I taught 5th grade and 2nd grade in FL before getting married and moving to Oklahoma with my husband, who is in the Air Force. From Oklahoma we moved to Spokane, WA, then to San Antonio, TX, and back to Spokane. We left Spokane two years ago and have since called Leeds, AL home. While in Spokane, we had three beautiful children - Heidi, who is a 1st grader at Leeds Primary, Hans, who is in Pre-K at Leeds Primary, and Klara, who is two.
It's going to be an exciting year, and I look forward to working with you! Roll Greenwave!

Math - 2nd & 3rd Period

2nd period -

3rd period -

Reading - 4th Period

We are currently reading Frindle by Andrew Clements. We read together in class, but you are welcome to buy a copy of the book to read at home. We are focusing on reading comprehension, and learning new vocabulary words. Ask your child about the book, they love it!

Science - 5th Period

We are learning all about the human body. We traced the outline of our own body, and labeled bones and organs. We are learning about each system too. Your child will soon be an expert!

Language Arts - 5th & 6th Period

5th Period - We are reviewing nouns. We've discussed common and proper nouns. We will be learning about pronouns and verbs, and begin forming our own sentences.

6th Period - Students have a daily writing prompt. The focus is for students to be able to formulate a thought and write about it. Another focus during this time is handwriting. We are also working on using correct grammar while writing. Writing should be fun, not a grueling process!
